Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at corner four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the quick descending corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
